You have probably found this web page because for some
reason you are looking for information on the Neuzer
Courier DT.
Why a Neuzer Courier DT
As they say in the advert - "lots of bike for
the money!"
I bought this little beauty as part of my fitness/exercise
regime in September 2008. It was bought from the nice
people at mailordercycles.co.uk
who I have no association with.
I wanted something fast and light and I did not want
to spend a lot either. I was looking for a flat bar
hybrid, more of a naked sport bike than a fully equipped
tourer. The deal was £179.99 delivered. And because
it was mail order, there was a small amount of assembly
to be done.
Other bikes I was considering was the Bronx
City Sport at £300 and the Ridgeback Flight
T1 for around £380. The Ridgeback Flight T1 is
perhaps in a better class but with a difference of £200
I would be able to buy 2 Neuzer Couriers. The deal was
done on price...
As with anything, there is always a compromise. I particularly
wanted a racing gear ratio, but I also wanted more robust
30 - 35mm tyres. Still for £180 you really cant
have it all.
700c 28 tyres
They are fine for the roads but anything a bit bumpy
and the tyres dont cut it. Still, they have got to be
better than pure race 23's. I am considering replacing
them with a wider tyre, then I might use it on trails
as well
Suntour Triple 28/38/48 Chainwheel
A bit of a disappointment as I found that I only
used the large chainwheel and the bike maxed out at
about 27mph. . The retailer was a bit vague on the specification
details but having part read a foreign review
I was of the understanding that it was fitted with a
two chainwheel 34/50. Anyway to solve the problem bought
a Truvativ 30/42/52 from eBay
for £22, slapped it on and its now good for upwards
of 30mph.
The weight is 11.2kg which seems very light
for this price range and style of bike.
The other small modification I made was to fit some
nylon strapless toeclips from Halford's,
which are great for speed and distance but can be a
bit of a hassle in traffic and trying to get a fast
pull away.
So all up, with the modifications the total cost was
about £210 which I would say is an absolute bargain.
And I am very happy with it.
Stay safe and don't let the cagers get you.
